Better day, yes it is

I'm going home tomorrow! Good times. I'm sittin here in the lobby of a hotel. Even though Rapid City is much smaller than Evansville, I still have trouble finding my way around. But, I made it here and hopefully I'll be able to wake up in time to get to the airport.
Today was a much better day at school. The kids were in better moods, and so was I. I love it when I'm in a good mood and the kids aren't wild. It makes things so nice. We had a volleyball game today. The B team lost, and I left during the A game, so I don't know how they did. Hopefully they won. Our boys also had a football game. Hopefully the won, as well. They've now decided to play contact in the middle school. I think it's kinda crazy, but I'm sure the boys are safe, and hopefully no one will get hurt.
Volleyball only lasts two more weeks....I might be just a little excited! It will be so nice to have more free time! I miss that time I had....ok, well I need to get to sleep so I can wake up at 5:30 to get to the airport. Should be fun!!

yes, bad day it is

Well, it's been an incredibly long day, and it's only 12:45. I think this was the longest morning, ever!! We rearranged our 6th and 7th grade classes, and I had two girls that refused to move. I had to get someone in my room to take them to the office. Then, the rest of the class wanted to be moved and yada yada...first period seemed like it lasted forever! We only had two classes today because at 10:00 we took students to the gym for a ceremony for the new bike path they are building from village belt to the school. It was crazy. Then we moved outside. Yes, brilliant idea to let the jr. highers loose outside. We have trouble controlling them IN the class...trying to control them OUTSIDE was just terrible. Oh the joy!
Then, we had to eat lunch early, which was okay because school got out at 12:30 for a funeral here later. Man, am I glad that the school day is over. Now, I have to stay here until 4:30, but that will be nice because I never have time to work in my classroom.
I'm going home on Friday. Yay! Should be very fun. After this week, it will be so wonderful to have a short break!! And I'll get to see lots of people from high school that I haven't seen in a while. Good times ahead!
Alright, time to get to work. Hopefully I'll have another post within a week or two. Enjoy your day!!

It's Friday!!

So, here I am, sitting at school. It's 5:00 and I'm still cleaning up and organizing. It's been a good week, but it's also been a long week. I haven't written anything in a while. So...school has been getting better. It seems that each week seems to get better and the kids are a little more well-behaved. I really enjoy it here! When I walk into my house, it feels like home, and that makes me happy. I don't feel like I'm just visiting, but I feel like I'm here, home...know what I mean?
This past week was a lot of fun for my 7th grade students. We've been studying Mexico and Central America, so on Wed. we made pinatas and on Thursday we decoorated them. Today, we had a fiesta and broke the pinatas and played Spanish BINGO and ate chips and salsa. I think that everyone had a great time!
My 6th and 8th grade classes didn't really do anything fun like that, but oh well....oh, I forgot, in my 6th grade classes we started the process of mummifying a chicken. That was a lot of fun! Very crazy and kind of gross, but the kids really enjoyed it!
I've been going to church at the Rec Center, here in Oglala. I really like it there and the poeple are really nice. Eric, the pastor, does a great job and really searches the Lord's heart and speaks the truth. I'm really glad that I'm going to church there because I have been learning so much and God has been teaching me so much about myself and Himself.
So...I'm going home next weekend for a wedding! My friend Amy is marrying Zach, finally! I'm so excited to see her and to see everyone else! It'll be good to see the fam and to see people from church! I think that it will be encouraging to see everyone. It could also be a bad thing to see people, though, because it could make me homesick when I get back. But, hopefully it won't.

Alright, that's all I have time for now. I know this is short, especially since I haven't posted anything in a while, but I have to get back to cleaning and then get home. I'm SO glad it's Friday!!!

So, I've been a little busy and haven't really had much time to update here. I've completed two weeks of school...it's been crazy, but I know that it will get better. All of my classes have about 12 students. It's a lot different than what I'm used to, but it's very nice and pretty manageable. I've been trying out two churches. One is Leon's church - Gospel Fellowship. The other is at the Re-Creation center in Oglala. I like them both, but I feel that I will learn more and grow more at the rec center. I've met a few people there and have been hanging out with them. I taught them how to play ultimate frisbee - so fun! And, they came over and played Scene-It. They hadn't ever played before, so it was fun, and now they love it!

I've also had some of my students coming over to my house. There are some boys that live on my street, who want to visit every night about 10...I'm gonna have to make sure they come over earlier! I'm too old to stay up that late. And there's also a few girls who come over, but they to go Oelrichs or Pine Ridge. It's been a lot of fun getting to know them and hang out with them. This is my ministry and I look forward to spending more time with them and really getting to know them.

That's about all I have for now...we didn't have school today because of Labor Day. We have Friday off, as well, because of a teacher meeting at Crazy Horse. Nice, short week! Alrite, take care!
